Welcome to the PaMDiF website!

PaMDiF:  The Patricia Manzo Diabetes Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is diabetes education.  Originally founded in Port Orange, FL in December of 2006, PaMDiF has recently moved to Maricopa, AZ.  PaMDiF was created to honor Patricia Manzo.  She was a registered nurse who grew up in Bar Harbor, ME.  Patricia was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at a young age.  Her struggle to control her diabetes pushed her to become well educated on the disease and its latest treatments.  As a nurse Patricia believed that education was the key to living a healthy life with diabetes.

PaMDiF is continuing Patricia’s beliefs by promoting diabetes education.  Living with diabetes is a challenging task that requires a lifestyle change.  A change in diet and exercise habits is often necessary to keep the disease from becoming worse. Correcting these habits is a difficult task that requires a plan, support from loved ones, and determination.

57 million Americans are diagnosed as pre-diabetic.  If this condition is left unchecked, it often turns into type 2 diabetes.  PaMDiF has made it a goal to reach out to the pre-diabetic community and educate them on ways to minimize the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.  PaMDiF’s strategy to help the public is to educate the masses and focus on individuals.

With the help from our donors, we are raising awareness of the disease at public events.  By educating the public on symptoms, basic treatment, and ramifications of the disease, we aim to raise awareness.  There are 5.7 million undiagnosed cases of diabetes in America.  Awareness is the first step to proper treatment.  PaMDiF is also interested in helping individuals.

Here in Arizona, we are working with local health professionals to develop a team that can customize a detailed treatment plan for individuals.  Our goal is to develop customized treatment plans that cover monitoring the disease, diet, exercise, and medication.  Since a treatment plan is no good if it is not followed, customizing a plan for each individual will treat diabetes while minimizing change in lifestyle.

Beards For 'Betes

The first annual Beards For 'Betes was held Friday, November 6, 2009 at the Fiesta Resort Conference Center. We had a great turn-out with Special Guest Mrs. Arizona 2009! Our guests and participants spent the evening listening to a local band , "Take Cover", enjoying food and drink provided by the Fiesta Resort, and chances on a silent auction.

We also have two teams from our North East Division in Maine who have joined Beards For 'Betes!

Track our participants progress in the Photo Gallery here on the PaMDiF site and watch for details on the Grand Finale.
